Jersey City firefighters responded to Myrtle Avenue at 2:46 a.m. Thursday and found a 2013 BMW and a 2008 Nissan Maxima fully engulfed in flames, Jersey City public safety spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. Firefighters quickly extinguished the cars and the Arson Unit determined that the Nissan was struck by lightning and the fire extended to the BMW. No injuries were reported.
